Dr. Vladimir L. Kvint Professor of Management Systems and International Business Graduate School of Business , Fordham University U.S Fulbright Scholar Dr. Vladimir Kvint has been a Professor of Management Systems and International Business at Fordham University 's Graduate School of Business since 1990 and has served as Adjunct Professor of International Business at the Leonard M. Stern School of Business at New York University . In 1991, he was a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Economics at Babson College, Massachusetts and from 1988-90, he was a Professor at the Vienna Economic University, Austria. 30 years of Dr. Kvint's research and scholarly activity was dedicated to the creation of theories on new regional economic development and emerging market countries. Among Dr. Kvint's achievements are the theory of regionalization of scientific technical progress; an evaluation of the role of the scientific-technical strategy in the regional economy; the development of the methodology of regional programs; a theory of the Global Emerging Market; the system of optimization models of business strategies in emerging markets and the development of economic solutions to poverty and unemployment. The fundamental ideas of these theories were explored in his dissertations and books. Dr. Kvint has a Doctor of Science in Economics, a Ph.D in Managerial Economics, an M.S. in Mining Electrical Engineering and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. In 2004 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the Academy of Public Adiministration of the President of Russia, St. Petersburg. In 2001, as a U.S Fulbright Scholar Award recipient, Dr. Kvint conducted studies, lectured and provided consultations to the government of Albania . For these activities, he was recognized by the U.S Department of State. From 1992-1998, he was the Director of Emerging Markets at Arthur Andersen, at the time, the largest professional services consulting company in the world. Between 1978 and 1989, he was the Leading Research Fellow and Head of the research departments of the Institute of Economy of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Since 1993 Dr. Kvint has been a member of the Bretton Woods Committee (Washington D.C) which monitors the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. He is a senior advisor of the Business Council for International Understanding (NYC) an organization created by an initiative of the White House in 1959. Dr. Kvint is a full member for life of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and several other international academies and institutions. In 1992, Dr. Kvint was awarded a two-year scholarship by the Wexner Heritage Foundation ( New York City ) and in 1993, was presented with the Faculty Scholarship Award by the University of Southern California . In 1997, the New England Center for International and Regional Studies (Connecticut) awarded Dr. Kvint the title of Honorary Fellow. In 2002, Fordham University honored Dr. Kvint's professorship with the annual GLOBE Award. Dr. Kvint was the Chairman of the World Economic Development Congress Summit for Institutional Investors (Washington D.C, 1995); the World Economic Development Congress' Global Risk Management Summit, (Washington D.C, 1996); and the International Banking Congress: US-CIS and Baltics, (NYC, 1997). Dr. Kvint has lectured at universities in Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Taiwan, the United States and Uruguay including the Russian Research Center at Harvard University, Kellog Business School at Northwestern University and Fuqua School of Business at Duke University as well as the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Whittier College, Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Kent State University, University of Southern California, UCLA and Baruch College of the City University of New York. Dr. Kvint is the author of 21 books and more than 550 articles. Many of his articles have been published around the world, including in the Harvard Business Review , Forbes magazine, The New York Times , The Times ( London ), Die Presse ( Austria ), New Times ( Moscow ), and others. One of his books, The Global Emerging Market in Transition , was the subject of a special conference in the UN headquarters in 1999. In 2003, Bloomberg Press published a book titled Investing Under Fire, Winning Strategies for Bulls, Bears, and the Bewildered. This book is written by outstanding co-authors including General Wesley K. Clark, Ambassador Dennis Ross, and Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs International, Robert D. Hormats. In this book, Professor Kvint wrote about calculating the risk of foreign direct investment in emerging market countries. In addition, he is currently, and has been in the past, an advisor to governments and leaders of such countries as Albania, Brazil, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine and several other emerging market countries. He is the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Sport and Physical Culture. Dr. Kvint serves on the board of directors of a bank, several companies and not-for profit organizations.
